Bangles are the New Everything

I'm the first to admit that bangles are a tough sell. Jemma Wynne has perfected the bangle (oval shape, comfortable, flexible fit, doesn't jangle like an asshole while I'm typing) Basically, anyway you can 'fix' a bangle woe, they've done it, and done it well. The JW love doesn't lie.
Rings are personal, earrings are typical, necklaces fall in both categories. Bangle bracelets, my favorite bijoux category are often lost in the shuffle. The last piece to be gifted, the first edited out of a stylist's shoot. resigned to the 'fun'  or 'costume' (barf) genre.

The bangle. The Susan Lucci of fine jewelry.

So, you see, no human was happier than I when the bangle received so much love at the GGs on Sunday. I'm calling this trend for 2013 now and I'm standing behind it. Get acquainted with a few of my favorite stackers from the Globe's Red Carpet and get used to seeing a lot more babes in bangles.

Best Dressed at the Pony Show

I know the Critic's Choice Awards were last week, but nobody cares.

Awards Season, yes I capitalized it, kicked off last night with the Golden Globes. Historically, it isn't exactly a critically acclaimed event, but I love seeing the movie stars and TV peeps co-mingle in a hilarious melting pot of Couture and Topshop. Seeing a producer from The Amazing Race standing next to Naomi Watts makes me feel good about myself. Sue me. It is generally quite obvious who is on a television show and who is a movie star, and I love that the Golden Globes are one of our only opportunities to see them side by side.  That being said, my choice for Best Dressed will surprise you. But, whatever, the channel is Masterpiece Theatre.  This bitch isn't exactly on Bravo.

Michelle Dockery

effortless. perfect. British.

Here are some of my favorite looks from Michelle, starting with last night. Obviously, I must note her jewelry choices were exquisite and I'm going to give her best bling, too. This may be by default, simply based on the lack of amazing, unique jewelry on the red carpet. PER USUAL.

Killing it with the 'I always look over my shoulder like this' pose.

 Thanks for the pics, Perez.

BANGLES are what's up jemmawynne.com y'all

Lady Mary's wedding look makes me want to burn my wedding photos. C'est la vie.

Another huge bling piece, on the fashion finger.

In Louis Vuitton at the Emmy's last year.
Girl, I don't even care about those wrinkles, but someone should be fired as hell. Letting your ass walk the red carpet like a hot mess who never heard of a damn steamer. damn.

Ralph Lauren at a PBS event. Just exuding general babe-ery.

Just being a babe somewhere else.

The End.

Sweatshirts are Everything

Currently, like now and maybe for 5 more minutes, sweatshirts are killing it for me. I've always had an affinity  for collecting oversize cottons pullovers (les pulls) from major Uni towns and, now, I just hoard them from everywhere. Like, Princeton, NJ, everywhere.

They range from one half of one dollar to hundreds of dollars (er, euros)
God damn you, Kenzo.

Also, scooped a L'universitie sweatshirt from Sorbonne whilst en vacances a Paris. Hoping someone will ask me about my time at Sorbonne, so I can look at them stupidly. Much like the time I was asked which train to take back to Cambridge, while waiting at a train station at Boston University. I may have been misleading this youth with my rockage of the Harvard sweatshirt.
I have no clue how to get to Cambridge, but do you like mon pull?

I'm Back. Rejoice, y'all.

Funnily enough, the last post I made was rubbing it in yo faces about how I was going to Paris. 10 months later, my ass is back to NYC, 10 lbs heavier, with a blood stream consisting mainly of vin rouge and onion soup broth.

 Worth it.

So, you see, I definitely had a better vacation than you did, though I am much fatter.

On to the resolutions!

-I will update this godamned blog more often

-I will not be a self deprecating weirdo, in a lame attempt to ward off the haters

-never use the word 'hater' ever again

-Just, generally, be better than last year.

Seems easy enough, right? Onward and upward, people.

2013.

Manhattan Musings

Barb and John, the parentals, are taking their children (ie, MEEEEE) and the spouse/sig other to  Paris for Christmas/New Years Eve. Boom.
I'm going to spend the whole vacay looking like this girl, albeit less attractive.

I have all, literally every, component of this outfit. Yet, we look dissimilar in the ensemble.
Weird.

I'm not gearing up for Coachella, a la Kate, BUT...
We are churning out a new collection for Couture as. we. speak.

HOLY FEETBALLS.

Yoga this morning was tough. It served as a life lesson of sorts. Like, no matter how often you practice at something, new challenges will always arise or something.

Namaste, lovers.

Wish in One Hand, Sh$t In the Other

Quickly, on this beautiful Monday, I'll share with you two things. Both of which may seem luxurious, but are actual life essentials. Ya know, like, diamonds and Jo Malone candles.

I need my terrace to actually just turn into this pool.

And it'd be grand to have this little Victorian retreat, nestled above my Manhattan hacienda. It would be soundproof, to block out the ESPN pollution, and labrador proof, for the prevention of chocolate hairs EVERYWHERE.  Sometimes a gal just needs a luxury nook. John would argue that the entirety of apartment 615 IS my luxury nook.

whatevs.

Death of a Saleswoman (well, her style)

As tired as all of you are of hearing about how pitiful I look on a daily basis, I'm fine with it. My obsession with home decor and jewels continue, much to the chagrin of my formerly stylish self. In lieu of weekends at Barneys, you'll find me at The Chelsea Flea Market. No longer spending my earnings on Proenza and Vince, I'm a home decor slut devotee. My old haunts are sending me the 'where have you been, here's a coupon' e-mails. ABC Carpet and Home is sending me the 'you owe me a fuck-ton of money letters.' YES.

Please see Emanuelle Alt wearing my daily uniform.  If you have tiny toothpick legs and a sunken in chest, you look good in basics. I stand by it. I have neither, but I do it in any case. Like, if I look at enough photos, those delusional fantasies will appear in the form of tiny thighs. Who cayahs? I'm too busy to care if my legs are fat. I have great shoulders.

In other news, I want red hair. Please see below for your daily redhead. Her name is Jane and she bothers me, in general, but she has flame red hair and black eyebrows. See? I can be done. Haters. Y'all know who you are.
