I think Freud has a theory about this...

Whilst perusing pics from Fashion Month,  I came across this dapper Parisien (I can spell, that's French, y'all), wearing a similar ensemble to my outfit yesterday.

Style Recycle: First Edition

I have enough of these little treats to last for a straight month of posts, but I will spread them out sporadically, so that you continue to read this blog for your enjoyment.  Since I am so poor crafty, I take many pieces of my wardrobe that I'm tired of and make them something I am willing to wear. Everyone has items that make them question their ability to purchase clothing, but waste not.
Follow my lead, pals.

1)

This old, leather Vince car coat (well, it's sleeves)

+     2)These cropped AG boyfriend jeans
                                                                         DRUMROLL

New Jeans with leather legs! Boom. Take that, Celine.

They are awesome. They also prove my calves are the same size as my biceps. I have yet to decide whether that is pathetic or desirable.

Shout out to John for these crummy pictures. Since I won't be crafting myself a camera anytime soon, y'all will have to deal with this subpar nightmare.

A big Mazel to all my lovelies who are holiday-ing this weekend xoxo

Pardon Our French

Sometimes three times a week, I am a bad wife. In lieu of a nutritious meal, I slave over the stove go to Gourmet Garage and wind up with a cutting board full of treats. John does not mind eating cornichons, olives, the 'good' Balthazaar bread with butter, brie, and wine for dinner. He is a tiny Frenchman trapped in a huge American body and the next step is a pencil thin mustache.
Wait, too late. Ok, a beret.
One day, I will show my (brother's) children this picture and explain to them how John and I used to be interesting New Yorkers, who ate like poor French people.

Going thrifting tomorrow and I've 'convinced' John to come. He loves it. I hope he finds his beret.
Bon Soir!

Local Obsession: Jemma Wynne

Just a little luxe nightcap to summarize my day. The beautiful baubles below are created in NYC by the talented ladies of Jemma Wynne.  It takes a lot to impress me these days, and these babies do the trick. You think they look good in photos? Imagine them on you. I know.
You can thank me later. Publicly. And with gifts.

 Goodnight, my fearless fashionistas!

Mad, Rad Bag

I realize I am half a decade behind the tide, but I love Mad Men. Considering I want this blog to be an actual account of my current obsessions and style choices, I have no shame in this admission.

Last night, after the episode featuring a comparison between January Jones and Grace Kelly, I started compulsively researching Kelly bags. Hermes created this style for The Princess and it's a little classic for me. I'll forgive you in advance if this is the first you've heard of either Hermes or Grace Kelly. Just covering my bases, but maybe we can't be friends anymore.

I thought I invented the idea of splatter painting a $6,000 bag for my own amusement, but it's turns out Kelly Wearstler did.  And they say there's no improving a classic.

Superior Interior

Whilst enjoying a little Proenza perusal this weekend, I came across the most beautiful piece of furniture I have ever seen. No shock here, considering every time I leave Barney's, I am declaring I have just witnessed 'the most beautiful (insert item here) ever.'

Check it out, it's made of horns/antlers. You're welcome.

After the initial shock of this beauty wore off, I decided to add a little superior to my own interior, considering I would not be adding this animal seat to my home. I thought to myself, 'Self, what would make your mantel more awesome?'
Another. Animal Head.

This one lives above my fireplace right now. Instead of replacing it, I'm just adding another....

This mosaic cow will reside directly above my current skull (sorry plates, later)
I just ordered another head, so the crafting will commence soon after. Pics to follow!

Monday is almost over, what are you wearing tomorrow?

Bauble Breakdown

I'm an avid collector of vintage rhinestone jewelry. I will momentarily be heading the the flea market to troll for more to add to my >100 piece ensemble. So, when Tom Binns debuted his beautiful collection of rhinestone-esque bibs, I knew I could save myself the $700 and make my own. I chose my least favorite necklace for this initial trial, but now that I am confident, I will paint some big pieces. I used assorted Essie nail polishes to paint each, individual stone, and I think it turned out great!
 The Inspiration: Tom Binns

 The Before Necklace: clear rhinestones

Halfway done: Polishes were Army green, purple, and 2 shades of brown

The final product! Sorry for the excellent quality photo. My only suggestions for future projects is to use brighter colors!  Keep you eyes peeled for this baby in an outfit post soon.
Happy Weekend!
